How we compare

Like for like
The same chemical at stores in the United States, so currency and shipping are alike. A solution is never compared with the dry chemical, and one hydrate never with another
Grades
Never mixed. A store that names a grade is compared only with stores naming the same one. Most hobby stores name none, and those are compared with each other
Pack sizes
Packs from 50 grams to 25 kilograms, in the same size band: small packs with small packs, big bags with big bags
Each store once
Its cheapest offer that is in stock. Out of stock offers are left out
Typical store
The middle store's price per kilogram, so one very dear or wrong listing cannot move it
Prices
The stores' own public prices in US dollars, before tax and shipping
Left off
Chemicals with fewer than 4 US stores in one comparison, and gaps over 10 times until a person has checked them
Updated
Every week, as we read the stores again. Last built November 2, 2026
